Virgin Galactic unveils new Space Ship

Virgin Galactic officially unveiled their new space ship called "VSS Unity". It's the predecessor to previously crashed SpaceShip in 2014 (Read about it).

The new ship is named VSS Unity by Prf. Stephen Hawkins.

'We are entering a new space age, and I hope this will help to create a new unity,' he said, launching the craft via a video message of behalf of Virgin boss Richard Branson.
'If I am able to go & if Richard will still take me, I would be very proud to fly on this spaceship,' he said. (Ref: Dailymail)

The new ship is packed with many safety features, including a lock mechanism for "feathering unit". The last ship was crashed due to the early deployment of feathering (which is rotating the wings 65° to increase drag) at transonic speed. It was a pilot error.

Since the crash there were only few cancellations. Majority of the passengers who signed up still wants to go.

We will have to wait till end of the year to see how VSS Unity performs.

In high school I once read an article in Popular Mechanics magazine. The article was about the most desirable jobs in the future. After seeing the first one, I was skeptical. I am not now.

The first job was : Commercial Space Ship Pilots.

Great age of space will commence soon.

Good stuff Virgin.

Cheers.

New Age of Space Exploration

Space exploration have changed. And it changed for good. The era of strict government expeditions have come to an end. Now, private companies that are brainchild of billionaires are changing how exploration is done.

With the end of space shuttle program by NASA (1981 - 2011); an entire spectrum of possibilities have been open to the world.

Tech billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos & Paul Allen are defining new methods of new frontiers in aerospace technology. Of course, then we have Richard Branson with space travel $200,000 a piece.

These billionaires are the beginning the final frontier - The Universe.

Elon Musk with Space X.

Jeff Bezos with Blue Origin.

Paul Allen with Stratolaunch.

Richard Branson with Virgin Galactic.

The era were government agencies burning billions of dollars for space exploration is coming to an end. The new age of privatized space exploration begin here. Exciting times ahead.

Thank You for reading.

Bendable Wings

No moving parts. The function of control surfaces can be imitated by this bending wind technology,

This massive technical leap is undertaken by a company called Flexsys in USA. They have a specific product called flexfoil which exploits elasticity of conventional materials.  There project is brilliant.

Space is not easy.

There was a time when launching a rocket to space was considered a great achievement. But as time passed, as technology grew - we all just took it for granted.

Only till recently we again realized how challenging the space is. The crash on 31st October in Mojove Desert reminds us how hard and harsh space could be.

I believe all of our prayers are with the brave co-pilot Michael Alsbury who lost his life testing Space Ship two. Also pray for the quick recovery of Peter Siebold who survived with serious injuries.

They belong in history, will be legends who wrote rules in blood.
We respect you. The whole industry does. Thank You.
